Oil monotype and pastel.

This one started out as an experimental oil monotype that I made at a workshop at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts in Pendleton, OR. While I was happy with some of the resulting textures and depths of color, this particular one didn’t work as a standalone composition, so I set about drawing on top of the print with oil pastels, a medium I’ve enjoyed playing with since I was a kid. The heron made himself right at home in the water-droplet-like blue field, and has found a comfortable position to patiently wait for a tasty snack to swim by.
