Topography series

This collection of images juxtaposes humans’ attempts to quantify our natural surroundings via topographic maps and some of the natural beauty that calls those landscapes home. I’m realizing this is a sort of theme in a lot of my work: the natural phenomenon that will continue to cycle along once we’re all long gone vs. the systems we have put in place to further our understanding of them (or even attempt to control them).

These prints are all the result of various experimental techniques, namely shellac-plate and Tetrapak intaglio (which just means I use an etching needle and an Xacto knife to create lines and peeled-out areas in sheets of shellac-coated cardboard and used soy milk cartons).

Thanks for swinging by! If you are curious about the human behind this site, you can learn more about me here.

Some of my artwork created with upcycled materials is now available at Circsus in downtown Milwaukie! You can also check out my work in person at the events below.
