Sentinel

This towering fir tree is inspired by the largest tree I can see out my bedroom window, which I have always viewed as keeping watch over the neighborhood. It is made from collaged materials and acrylic paint on the inner panel of a reclaimed maple cabinet door. The background texture is built up from layers of giftwrap tissue—one of my all-time favorite collage materials, and always plentiful after birthdays and holidays!—with some additional collage materials forming the foundation of the tree, beneath an application of acrylic paint.
