“Be on guard against the danger of producing something simpleminded rather than simple or making something complicated instead of developing something truly complex.”Wayne Thiebaud
Many times, when clients seek out a consultant to help with a communication challenge, they are faced with conveying something complex in appropriately simplified terms. In other cases, they may have a message that started out simple enough, but has scaled in such a way that it no longer resonates with others. This is true across various business contexts, including those we don’t readily recognize as “communication problems,” such as much of the day-to-day work involved in nurturing successful customer and employee relationships.
In my consulting practice, I explore a wide range of business communication challenges and strive to identify the gaps between an organization’s intended message and the audience’s ability to effectively receive it. Often times, switching “modes” by introducing straight-forward visual representations of a process or desired outcome can help bridge the gap and get everyone aligned around similar expectations. This written and visual communication-based approach has proven to be an effective problem-solving strategy across a variety of engagements. Typical services include:

- Customer success and services program design
- User experience and interaction design
- Curriculum and instructional design
- Employee communications and intranet strategy
- Online community strategy
- Program and process roadmaps
- Training materials and storyboards
